Operation against scraps metal dealers at Roing
ROING, Jul 04: Lower Dibang Valley District Administration along with police conducted operation against rogue scrap metal dealers at Roing Township following complaints regarding theft of building and fencing materials, like rods, angle posts, barbed wires, solar plates, vehicle parts etc.
The raids were conducted in six scrap vendors situated within township.
The SP cautioned the scrap dealers not to purchase such materials without making any proper verification and keep records of each and every item they purchased along with address of the sellers. Rakhe Sinku adjudged winner of first ‘Anime Cosplay Festival’
ITANAGAR, Jul 04: Altogether five young anime lovers from Arunachal Pradesh represented the State in ‘Nagaland’s first ‘Anime Cosplay Festival’ held at the Heritage in Kohima on June 29 last.
Organized by the Nagaland Anime Junkies, the event witnessed participation of more than 500 Animes, Mangas and other comic lovers from Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and the host state Nagaland.
The main highlights of the event were Anime lovers ‘cosplaying’ their favorite anime characters like Naruto and Uchiko.

Artificial flood creates havoc in Ruksin

RUKSIN, Jul 04: The second spell of monsoon rains caused artificial in Ruksin Township Wednesday as there is no drainage system to drain out rainwater from the road.

Demand for capital punishment increases
ITANAGAR, Jul 04: The barbaric act of rape and killing of a three year-
All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) today reiterated the demand for capital punishment to the rapist besides review of all such cases for fast tracing to grant justice.
Meanwhile, AAPSU president Kamta Lapung informed that the rally on Wednesday had an immediate effect as it helped percolate down the message that a criminal belongs to no tribe, caste and creed, and would not be spared.

While condemning the heinous Bhalukpong incident in strongest term, ANYA informed that a team of the Association headed by its president Bamang Taji visited the family of the deceased yesterday. It demanded immediate trial and capital punishment to the rapist within three months.
Referring to it as the rarest case ever that happened in the state, it said that the criminal deserves to be hanged till death.
Appealing all the section of the societies, especially political leaders and other NGOs not to politicize and communalize the issue, the Association said, a criminal is a criminal and therefore should be awarded with exemplary punishment as per law at the earliest for justice to the victim’s family.
The Association further appealed the state government and the law enforcing authority to take stringent measures to check such crimes in the state.
It is time that the civil society act as watch dog to tackle such unwanted activities, it added.
While condemning the incident of rape and murder, the women wings of ANYA and ANSU in a joint release demanded that all such pending cases against women registered in all police stations be reviewed.
Describing it as a ‘big slap’ on the face of state Govt the woman wings of the organisations said “Enough is enough” as crimes against women were rising beyond tolerance. Meanwhile, to protest against the Bhalukpong rape incident, ANYA and ANSU women wings have decided to stage a rally from Akashdeep Complex to Raj Bhawan here from 9 am on Saturday.
Galo Welfare Soceity (GWS) has condemned in strongest term the rape and killing of an infant in Bhalukpong and demanded capital punishment for the rapist.
Expressing grave concern over the bizarre incident, GWS urged the authority concerned to unearth the reasons/circumstances that have led the rapist to commit such heinous crime.
GWS appealed to the State Government to take appropriate measure to contain the rising incidents of crime against women and child before it is too late.
Opium worth Rs 2 lakhs seized, one arrested
CHANGLANG, Jul 04: In a major breakthrough the Changlang Police had a big catch of drugs (Opium) of about 4.5 KG valued about Rs. 2 lakhs from a resident of Myanmar namely Mukwang Hasik (35) during checking of vehicle at Namdang check gate today. The said person has been arrested under relevant section of NDPS Act.
The aforesaid quantity of drugs and an Assam registration Maruti 800 Car has been seized by Changlang Police. The accused is being produced before the court to get under police custody for further interrogation.
Meanwhile, SP Changlang Vijay Kumar appreciated OC, Changlang and the team of police who did excellent job in detecting huge amount of drugs and awarded them with cash prize and commendations.

Addressing the media persons ALSU president Tadar Tarish said that union would intensify its agitation till the demands are met. “The appointment was made illegally, violating the recruitment rules and other procedures” said ALSU president. Tarish also alleged that appointment was made under political influence. However he made it clear that union has no intention to target any individual rather it is against the wrong system infested in every department. The union further disclosed that it would organize peace protest march on 18th July next if the demands are not fulfilled. He also appealed to the people to cooperate with the union by hinting that bandh call would be the last option.
General Secretary Romik Jogu in his address said that motive behind the opposition of illegal appointment is to send clear message to every department that union would not tolerate illegal appointments. Jogu further condemned the state government for failing to deliver justice to the various rape and murder victims while referring recent gruesome Bhalukpong rape and murder case of a minor.

awarded the National Youth Award 2011-
She was one among the 27 individuals who were conferred the National Youth Award for the first time by the President of India and became the 1st lady recipient of such coveted Award from Arunachal.
National Youth Awards are conferred on youths each year who have demonstrably excelled in different fields of youth development and social service.
Tilling Yam has been selected for the award for her dedicated voluntary and community service to the society. She has worked as national service volunteer in Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Ziro for several years and served as Gram Sabha chairperson, Hong village.

Dabii stresses on promotion of girls’ education
PASIGHAT, Jul 04: A girl hostel with accommodation facility of 100 students and an Upper Primary School building were inaugurated at Telam by MLA Tako Dabii and Deputy Commissioner RK Mishra. The buildings were constructed by the education department under SSA/RTE.
Addressing a public meeting at the school auditorium, Dabii asked the government servants to discharge duty as they play the vital rule in successful implementation of all developmental schemes.

Students stage dharna protesting Govt’s apathy

DAPORIJO, Jul 04: The student community staged peaceful Dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here today to register their strong protest against the authority’s apathetic attitude in solving various problems of GHSS here.
The student leaders submitted a memorandum addressed to the DC and higher authorities of education department, including, Commissioner, Director highlighting the problems of the school and grievances of the student community.
Some of the pressing problems of the school were, acute shortage of teaching staff, infrastructure, including classrooms, toilet/bathroom etc., the said.
The toilets in the schools were in unusable condition due to lack of maintenance. This is compelling the girl students to go outside for attending natural call, they said.
The student leaders also held discussion with the district administrators in ADC’s office and informed the district authority of the problems faced by the students from within and out side Daporijo in getting admission in the GHSS School due to overcrowding. They said that many students from oust side Daporijo area have been denied admission due to overcrowding. Overcrowding has also adversely affected the academic atmosphere of the school and led to student drop out, they said.
They also criticized district students’ union and other welfare organizations, NGOs etc in the district for not taking up the students’ issue.
Earlier, thousands of students took out procession in the main thoroughfare of Daporijo township shouting slogans against the authority for turning a deaf ear to their problems and demanding early redressal of their grievances.
The students gave the district authority till Monday to give positive assurance of their demands failing which they threatened to intensify agitation.
Meanwhile, the public of Daporijo appreciated their move for students’ cause and assured to support them as and when their support is sought for.

Through your esteemed daily I would like to share my sentiment on the rampant corruption taking place in the state.

The government plans various schemes for the common man and spent crores of rupees
but not even 30% of the money is spent on actual development due to leakages taking
place at every stage. The engineers prepare estimates double the actual cost and
the contractors execute the works far below the specification to save more because
in every step, right from obtaining work order to passing of bills, he has to pay
money to the engineers. The engineers and the bureaucrats have to extract money from
the public to recover what he incurred while obtaining posting/retention order in
his place of choice. In present days, no engineer will survive if he did not pay
"percent" to the authorities who look after transfer-
Fake bills worth crores of rupees are drawn every year while genuine bills are kept pending for long citing one excuse or other. The authority responsible for this fails to understand that every rupee in the state exchequer belongs to the public. There is need for judicious use of the money for development works but money is siphoned off through corrupt means resultantly, people at grassroot level remain deprived of genuine development.

In some districts, these posts have been created but for many other districts, proposals for its creation have been put to dustbins. Why such arrangement? If a Minister wants, new posts are created and vacancy filled up from his near and dear relatives without following minimum norms.

Whenever they visit village, they carry those weapon to kill the wild animals on the way. Even they don’t leave the house sparrow for as chunk of their delicious breakfast.
In our area the species of birds and wild animals are decreasing day by day. Even we are not able to enjoy view of migratory birds which we often use to see during the change of season in the past. Beside that observation, I have also come across the use of wild animals in rituals and ceremonies associated with death person among different communities of Arunacha Pradesh with a view to give peace to the departed soul. In addition to that bad scene, the open selling of wild animals in daily market in our area shows the some point of negligence and weakness of concern authority in their responsibility and duties.
